Hi,
Does anyone know how to include an image in the TOC?
I have topics that I want to highlight as "key features", so I want to
include a little icon in the TOC to indicate that these topics are
important.
I tried the following, but none of these worked:
- Added the icon to the heading - it only displays the icon in the
content, not in the TOC
- Target > Advanced > Remove images from paragraphs with heading levels
is clear (not selected)
- I tried creating a new heading style with a background image
- I tried creating a new MadCap|TocProxy style with a background image
Any ideas on how I can achieve this, or other options for highlighting
important topics in the TOC?
(Flare 12. This is for PDF output, but if it also works in HTML5, that
would be a bonus.)
Thanks,
Yossi Karp

Re: Include image from heading in TOC
I could be wrong, but I think you are trying to do something that Flare does not support for print output. But you could at least try to experiment with the p.TOCn styles (e.g., p.TOC1, p.TOC2). Those are the styles used to format the listing of headings within the TOC proxy. If that *does* work and if you also use miniTOC proxies in your print output, also edit the p.miniTOCn styles.

Re: Include image from heading in TOC
If you can create your icon as a Unicode character instead of an image, that may work in the TOC. Be aware, though, that the TOC typically drops formatting from the heading in the topic, so you are going to be limited to characters that exist in whatever font you are using for the TOC.

Edit: just re-read and realised you wanted something for pdf, which this won't help with. But in case you want something similar for web...
Maybe a Toc Entry class could achieve something acceptable for you? Expand step 4 and look at the Toc Entry section.
