Extra space in output if there is a linefeed in Text Editor

Post by ChoccieMuffin »

Just thought I'd run this by you, in case anyone has noticed this.

It would seem that if there's an extra linefeed in the Text Editor between a heading opening tag and the heading text, an extra space gets chucked into the PDF. I've raised this as a bug (117523) and will let you know what they say.

This is what the output looks like:

And this is what it looks like in Flare, notice that the opening <h4> tag is on line 7 and the text for the heading is on line 8:

If I manually go into the Text Editor and remove the linefeed, the space disappears in the PDF output.

I notice that the linefeed is also inserted if you add an index entry, which means that most, if not all, of my topics will have that extra space! Fortunately for me, h1 - h3 are outdented so the space isn't noticeable, but h4 is aligned with body text so it's obvious.

As a fix, can anyone suggest how I can globally search through my thousands and thousands of topics to remove that linefeed? I have a release coming up so it'll have to happen after the release (in case I break stuff) but it'd be good to know how to remove that linefeed so the Flare bug doesn't show in the output.

So it's been confirmed as a bug, with no other suggestion on how to resolve it.

This is what they said:

Currently I am able to see the extra space in PDF output, yet I extended the Issue Report as well to showcase that the XML Editor does not reflect this extra space prior to compiling the output if it is indeed going to appear.
