How do you (or can you) control the size of the columns in a header frame?

My practice is to set the whole table to 100% and then to set the columns to some lesser percentage, so long as both/all columns add up to 100%. So say I have two columns. I'll set those to 50% and 50%, or to 60% and 40%, depending on how much room each column needs.
