page breaks in PDF

in two places - on paragraph styles that are NOT set up as proper headings, and do NOT have this problem elsewhere. They are in the middle of a topic, so nothing to do with the TOC

going into the paragraphs themselves, set both to avoid breaks before and after (tried just after first)

They are still breaking -1st one on a new page after a table (again, not an issue elsewhere), then rest of the page is blank (so page break after too)

Second one, also on new page then the only thing on the page (so must be a break after, tho I've set it to avoid both before and after).

any tips? never seen this before and nothing complex in here so no idea why it's happening.

Do you have some rules set for whatever is before or after the problem paragraphs? You say you have a table - is there some kind of page-break-avoid setting on the table? I suspect you'll have to do a good bit of messing around and digging, but reckon that's a good place to start.

nope, and already dug a lot - all these elements are used elsewhere and don't behave like this.

only diff is this stuff went to a developer in contributor :-/

You may well have done this already, so apologies if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs, but have you looked at the code for the topics in the Text Editor? You might find something peculiar has snuck in there while you weren't looking that's messing you up.

I always look at the code, tho can understand why it's everyone's first suggestion.

I believe this was something really weird - like the topics had the 'insert empty pages for left/right' selected, even tho there was NO break and the previous topics were correct.

I don't use the left/right and always turn this off, not sure if it was inherited from previous writer or what.

Solution (I'm pretty sure this is what fixed it) was to turn ON section break, deselect that, then turn the break off.

odd, but fixed, in case this helps someone
