building PDF fails

Postby azure639 on Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:18 pm

No error log produced. Start build, immediately terminates.
Tried cleaning project. PDF generated earlier. I've only changed conditional text in 1 file and 1 variable.

You can usually fix this by opening task manager and killing acrobat. If that doesn't work, the nuclear option is to restart your machine.

Adobe reader/Acrobat holds your PDF file open and locks it (because it thinks you are editing it). There are a couple processes involved - so ending a few of them should work to allow you to rebuild your PDF:
Close Flare

End tasks:
Adobe Collab Sync
Adobe IPC broker
Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager

and then restart Flare and attempt to rebuild.

And yes, I agree with the other comments that the nuclear option is to reboot your machine to clear the locked file.

If the literal message is "Build Terminated", have a look at this thread:

Also, if you've had the troublesome PDF in an Outlook message, Outlook sometimes hangs onto it, so also close Outlook.
