FM output contains mystery character styles

Post by lfilla »

We are trying to understand why the process of outputing our Flare to FM generates new, mysterious character styles in the Frame doc. The most puzzling instance has to do with conditional text at the sentence level.

Here's the scenario:

In one topic (A), we have a PrintOnly condition on a single sentence in a particular paragraph. In another topic (B) we have another PrintOnly condition on a single sentence. There is no difference in the XML with the exception that A's paragraph style is BodyIndent and B's is a numbered style.

In the FM output, A appears to display perfectly. But if you right-click the conditioned text you find out that it has a character style assigned to it named ConditionText_1. That character style was never in our FM template before. It was created during output.

In the FM output, B appears too small. It should be Body style but it's the wrong size. Right-click the conditioned text and you see that is has a different new character style assigned to it named ConditionText. That character style was never in our FM template either.

So both of these character styles were created, presumably because FM didn't know what to think about the conditioned text and created character styles for them. Why two different ones? Why is one the correct size and the other is not? We have seen many examples of character styles being created in FM output, usually because of bold or italics in the Flare topic.
