Table in List - A work around

Post by DocuWil »

If someone has a more clever solution, please tell me. Anyway, I wanted to share this with you in the forum.
I made the following work around.
In the following example I wanted to clear out something special and present in my WebHelp as well as my Printed Documentation.
You can see there is a part in this list where you would like to use tabs. However, that is not working. Instead you can use a table.
TablePrinted2.jpg
If I just put in the table, the result would be:
TablePrinted.jpg
You can't use the div tag within a list.
So, I did the following:
TableFlareSettings.jpg
In my case I used a left border of 1 mm and a left padding of 13 mm.

I hope this little work around will help some of you.

Interesting nice tip.
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release

I'm confused. Did you insert the table inside the list, or did you insert it just after the list (after the </li></ul> tags)? If you want it included in the list and indented, then you could click the "Make Simple Paragraph" option and insert a table into that paragraph. It'll follow the indenting rules of the list, so it'll automatically be lined up with the other text in the list item.

I used the Make Paragraph Item:
TableFlareSettings2.jpg
And ... if you just create the table without any changes, it will be looking good in the WebHelp, but not in the printed documentation.
Give it a try and you will see that the table will be positioned completely left aligned in the Word document.

Does this answer your question, Lisa?
