I have several projects that were created by importing Word files (one Word file per project).
When I generate Word output, the images are referenced, not embedded, so they do not display when the .doc file is opened on others' machines.
In the topic file, the image paths are relative. And when I create WebHelp output, the images are properly included.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Image files do not display in generated Word file
I found a workaround in MS Word, but I'd prefer it if Flare did it for me

Re: Image files do not display in generated Word file
I am having this same problem and using Word 20007. The instructions posted above, amazingly, do not seem to translate to Word 07 at all. I am searching help in both word and flare and not having a lot of luck. Anybody out there solve this probem and have hints?
Thanks!

Re: Image files do not display in generated Word file
I am not a Word expert, but that appears to be "by design" in Word, especially when the docx (similar to OOXML) format is used. Since it is XML based any images are best referenced as external files. That is the same for WebHelp, but while WebHelp uses relative paths and thus is transferable, Word tends to use absolute paths that typically make that document work on exactly one system. One way around this flawed design is to use a document format that is intended to be transferable, such as PDF. The problem with that is that PDF documents aren't that easily edited by others. So the only option in Word indeed appears to be using the process outlined in the linked web page.
I stopped when Office XP came out and since then no longer bother with MS Office. I typically don't do much with that type of documentation and if there is a need OpenOffice.org does the job quite nicely. So I cannot give any advice on MSO2k7, but I guess Word 2k7 comes with a help file, so that would be the next best place to try your luck.

Re: Image files do not display in generated Word file
There is a knowledge base article describing the work-around at:
http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_csh.htm#OUTP1010F
and a discussion at:
http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 582#p21582
I agree that this should be part of Flare - how about a feature request?
https://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx
Translation to Word 2007 -
click the office button
select Prepare
select Edit links ... and the rest is the same.
