Glitch in PDF bookmark output

My Word output finally looks decent enough, so I decided try PDF output. Different story.

I'm getting bookmarks listed as "_gen_" on the left. Some of these pages are blank. Others, when I click on the " _gen_," put me in the middle of two pages.

Can anyone tell me what's going on?
