How to view two files at once?

I'm sure there must be some simple thing I'm missing, but I can't figure out how to view two files at once. I have two files that will have similar formats, but different text, and I would love to be able to see both of them at once, and then maybe copy from one file and paste into another. How do you do this? Does it have something to do with docking?
