"Extracting" a paragraph from a list item

In order to "extract" a paragraph (or other element?) from somewhere in the middle of a list item (that has multiple paragraphs) into a new list item, I found this process:

1. Put the cursor where you want to "extract" a paragraph from the list item.
2. Create a new list (which becomes a nested list).
3. Press Backspace or Shift+Tab.

Done
