MadCap Flare Certified Test Review + Developer's Guide

Post by scott »

Hi everyone!
I'm pleased to announce my new book: MadCap Flare Certified Test Review + Developer's Guide.

The book covers all of Flare's major features and includes:
* tips and tricks
* a list of top 10 "gotchas" when converting to Flare from RoboHelp and FrameMaker
* keyboard shortcut references by task and by key
* a guide to Flare file extensions
* a quick task index

It also serves as a study guide for the new Certified MAD test with over 40 practice questions. It's not a replacement for the Flare training classes, of course. I wrote it to complement the classes and to serve as both an introduction to Flare for new users and as a quick reference for experienced users.

This book replaces my previous book, MadCap Flare for RoboHelp Users.

You can view a sample chapter and learn more (including details about my other book, CSS to the Point) at http://www.lulu.com/clickstart.

In case you're wondering, it was written in Flare. :D

Why is this showing as an announcement when I log into the forums? This is four years and 4 versions of Flare old. Of course I opened it because it appeared as an announcement today. Then I noticed the version number, then the date. Please don't waste my time with obsolete posts. There are two that showed up today.

I'm new, but have been using the forums for several weeks and this post did not appear until this past Friday. Does it show for more experienced users? Maybe it was my first time in the Tips and Tricks board. If there is a newer edition (ie, for Flare 11), I might be interested, but I don't see any point in announcing something that is so far out-of-date that it's pretty useless. :?

The forums have been going through a lot of maintenance over the last several months, most recently a few weeks back as the forum admins added the new Doc-To-Help forum. I suspect the announement issue that is so bothering you is just an anomoly stemming from the maintenance. Kindly forgive the humans behind the forums and move on. No one is purposely trying to annoy or confuse newbies, or anyone else for that matter. It's just a blip... I'm absolutely certain that if Scott had a new edition of any of his Flare-related books, he'd let us know.

No worries, thanks for your reply, kind human. It's just that being new, it's hard enough to figure all this out without reading up on features that no longer exist or that have been improved since then. I just need to pay more attention to posting dates before I dive in to a topic. :)

I can highly recommend Scott's MadCap Flare V11 developer's guide, ISBN 9780578160470 90000 if you're looking for something by him!
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2023.
