When I create my .chm file and type in a term in the search pane, I get no results every time, even when I'm typing a word that I know exists in a topic.
I've enabled the search in the skin, but no results.
Help!

Here is an article that explains the empty search results and the fix.

Re: Search Pane in .chm file error
Thanks for that - I am running Windows 7 home, and am getting an error when I try to execute the file. When I google the error I get lots of results telling me to download an exe file to fix registry stuff in my machine.
This makes me nervous.
Also, doesn't this mean that the Search function is only not working on my specific machine? I can't do anything if someone else doesn't have the right setting on their machine...
Thanks again.

Re: Search Pane in .chm file error
You need to have administrative rights to re-register the dll. You can right-click on the batch file and select to Run as administrator. Maybe that helps.

Yup, I did that. I get the same error message. This is my own laptop, not a company one, so I have full admin rights.

See the Microsoft KB articles
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827659
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/964677
The error code 0x80070005 indicates a permission issue, seems as if you do not have admin rights.

Re: Search Pane in .chm file error
Thanks for the help. My main concern is that it works for everyone else - if this is a permission issue for my machine, it's not a big deal.
Much appreciated.
