Flare 2017 r2 stopped working after Windows update

I had a Windows update today and since then, Flare 2017 r2 won't launch. Flare 12 works fine. Anyone else had this issue and knows how to resolve it?

(I'm running Flare in Parallels on an iMac).

While I don't have experience with your specific issue, I think the general consensus is Flare 2017 R2 has issues, and if you experience them, you should probably roll back to 2017 R1. Here is the download URL: http://downloads.madcapsoftware.com/fla ... e_2017.exe

(Flare 2017 R1 and R2 can't co-exist on the same system at the same time, so you'll want to uninstall R2 first.)

I've got Flare 12 on the same machine, so will use that instead. It works fine.

Is there anything additional that needs to be done beyond uninstalling 2017 r1 through the Control Panel? Removing registry keys or directories, perhaps?

We also have had problems since all of the Windows updates installed last week. I'm not sure if they're related to the updates or to the new Flare build though. So far this week we're able to use the updated version of Flare. It starts and doesn't crash like it had been doing. The problem we're seeing now though are files and sub-directories being added to a project that seem to be added on their own. There's another user post with this same issue (viewtopic.php?f=13&t=29020). I'll be submitting a bug for that one later this morning.

I've been advised to install/repair. Hopefully, it will at least let me launch R2. What a disaster of a release!

I've had to uninstall too - Flare was freezing up & causing issues for Windows (10). My start menu would stop working & when I tried to restart the PC it would just sit there with a black screen indefinitely.
