Preventing web caching of TopNav content

Post by doc_guy »

Do any of you have experience forcing the browser/server to not cache TopNav output? I tried using some meta tags (below), but they don't seem to be working, and upon further research, these meta tags don't seem to be supported by HTML5.

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate" />
<meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
<meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0" />
Any advice?

Hi Paul,

Yeah, the nocache was dropped from html5. But I know I've seen it happening on html5 pages. I'm suspecting it's some fancy work with cookies and js/java forcing a reload if the cookie is not new enough.

Dang. It seems like it should be easier than that.

The only ways I've seen documented involved manifest.appcache, but that is on its way out, too. What do the standards people have against us wanting to make sure the browser pulls a fresh copy no matter what? It's bloody annoying.
