SharePoint Explorer with 365 in Flare 2018 not working

Post by klees »

Hi,
I opened SharePoint Explorer and opened a connection to my SharePoint 365 and I got the green check mark as it is connected.

In SharePoint Explorer, I see a node with the URL I specified. I click the right-pointing arrow and I get an empty SharePoint Login dialog box. The empty SharePoint dialog box eventually closes. The result is that I cannot see any of the files or folders on my SharePoint site. Has anyone else tried this? Am I missing something?

Thank you!

Hi, was this ever fixed or the problem identified? I've got the same issue.

Thanks!

Actually, I fixed this myself by changing the URL slightly, so that it ends with 'sharepoint.com'.

We are having the same issue too, but in Flare 2019. I contacted MadCap Support and am waiting for their answer. Did any one of you get it up and running in the meantime?

MadCap Support's answer: <<this issue can occur if access is not allowed for "Apps that don't use modern authentication" in the SharePoint admin settings.>>
But our ICT/security staff does not want to lower the SharePoint security, so we're kinda stuck here...

Bump.

Was this ever resolved by MadCap without the need to lower Sharepoint security? I'm getting the same issue in Flare 2022 r2.

This isn't an issue that Madcap can resolve.

It's SharePoint configuration. Don't look for any help from Microsoft.
Trent.

Certifiable.

@Trent

Sorry but I don't agree here. Flare is just plain weird with a lot of behaviours and this is one of them. I have SSO enabled for our Central licence and frequently get logged out of it on the Flare side and have to put my full work credentials in to sign into my Microsoft account to allow me to sign in via SSO, as if I were using a brand new device etc.

Flare should just be sending authentication requests via the system browser, not its own internal browser. This would fix the Sharepoint and Central issue, but I won't hold my breath because it seems like Flare is just slowly dying piece-by-piece i.e. not being able to use Capture's scrolling capture on literally any modern website.

I went through this about a year and a half ago. It really isn't a Microsoft problem or a MadCap problem. It is a site configuration issue at your company. I had to go through a security review, which included having MadCap provide information about Flare. It was so long and laborious that we abandoned using SharePoint inside Flare. Instead, we manually transferred to/from SharePoint.
