How to number rows in table automatically?

Can anyone tell me how to number rows in a table automatically? I want to put a number in the first column of each row, starting with "1" and then autonumbering each row to the end of the table. My documentation group uses a group template, so let me know if we need to create a special style for this. Thanks!

I use a pargraph style with autonumbers to do this. Interested to hear if there are any other ways to do it.
