We have a document that is approximately 1600 pages and maintained in FrameMaker. In addition, it contains several chapters that range from 50 -90 pages each.
What is your experience in moving a doc like this into Flare?
How does Flare perform with such big files and such a large project?
File size
Re: File size
I've migrated a similar sized FrameMaker project to Flare, and the import process handled it fine.
One of the biggest parts of the job was to get "clean" content in Flare.
After I ran my first import, I realised there was various formatting and other crap in the FrameMaker files that I didn't want in Flare, so I had to tidy up the FM files before importing.
Then after importing, there was a bit of work to tidy up the imported files - e.g. reformat lists.
I'd suggest just trying it out so you understand the import process and options - the difficulty will vary depending on your FM source files, and what you want the imported files to look like in Flare.

Re: File size
I have a Flare project that generates a PDF of about 1200 pages. It works, though it takes about an hour for the generation to complete. This is comparable to any of the alternatives.
