Customization of the top navigation

Hello everyone,

I've been successful at using JS to insert a custom navbar into the top header of the skin. This also allows for my navbar to follow the flex rules over the search and logo wrappers. My question is:

Is it possible to open the source files where the HTML for the top nav bar is being generated? I'd like to edit the source HTML rather than inserting with scripts.

I'm assuming because the top nav is being dynamically generated from the software skin it would require getting into the source of the software? aka not possible or convenient?
