Sequential Numbers in a Column of a Table

Is there a way to create an automated number list for a column in a table? I have a table that I am trying to use in different topics but it will have certain rows omitted using Conditional Tags for various topics. I am hoping there is a way to have the numbers recalculate if a row is omitted because of a Conditional Tag.

Have you tried using autonumbering? Create an autonumber 'style' and apply it to the cell.
