Certification Exam

Hello

The practice test seems to be only introductory and intermediate questions.

Is the test at this level, or does it also cover intermediate and advanced concepts and material?

I am passing the practice test, in this case am I ready?

If you are able to clarify the coverage that would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi!
If you do well on the practice test, you should be OK with the certification test. I recommend reviewing any features that you don’t use often and the new features. I also recommend completing the practice project before taking the test. That will help you identify features you might need to study.

Just let me know if you have other questions about the certification program.

Best regards,
.scott

How do I get started on getting certified? I've been using Flare for years, and I think it'd be nice to have something to show for it.

Thanks

Hi!
The certification program is outlined on MadCap's website at: https://www.madcapsoftware.com/services/certification

Here's a quick summary and some tips.

The certification has two parts: a test and a sample project.

The test is online, timed, and multiple-choice. It covers all of the features in Flare, including the new features in Flare 2020. There is a 10-question practice test you can take first to make sure you're ready. You will need to know Flare to pass the test. If you're new to Flare and have only taken the Intro class, you're not ready to take the certification test. You should learn more about Flare and complete at least one project. If you've used Flare for awhile, you might need to review the features you don't use. For example, if you don't create PDFs, I'd review page layouts and print targets.

The sample project is a small non-work example to show that you know how to use Flare. The content can be anything (within reason). My advice is to create the sample project first. You can use it to ID features you don't often use or don't know as well. Then, you can use the free resources to study: the help, tutorials, and webinars. You can also take the Intermediate or Advanced class. If you want to use my book to prepare, it has sample test questions you can use to study. The classes and book are not required, of course. They just provide more focused/efficient options for learning Flare. When you finish the sample project, try out the sample test. You can also use the sample test to ID features you should review. If you do well on the sample test, you should do well on the real test. Before you take the real test, make sure you won't be interrupted, you have a solid internet connection, and you're relaxed. You can take it any time. Many people take it on the weekend.

After you are certified, you will receive a certificate and a certification logo you can use here, on LinkedIn, your resume, or wherever you'd like. :)

Just let me know if you have any other questions about the certification program.

I've got one of your Flare books from an earlier version - have you updated it for 2020?

(Really useful, so I can highly recommend Scott's books!)
