Inter OTF and TTF Fonts Hyphen no longer displaying

Our marketing department has recently decided to use the Inter font for company documents. Our product manuals are impacted by this decision.

Initially, I had installed the Inter ttf files on my laptop. For some reason, I could not select these Inter fonts (Light, Extra Light, Medium, etc.) from the MadCap Flare font picker. I had to uninstall the Inter ttf font files, and look for and install the Inter otf files instead. As by magic, I can now select these fonts from the MadCap Flare font picker.

Unfortunately, now I can no longer see hyphens in my MadCap Flare text editor. Luckily, in the PDF and HTML output, the hyphens are still visible.

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem, and how I could solve the problem with the hyphen and the fonts? Thank you for your feedback.
