Hey, What Does This Thingie Do?

I dunno if it's just me but I just spotted a button in the Standard toolbar and... I have absolutely no clue as to what it does.

It's at the far right of the toolbar, to the right of the "Open The Primary Target File" button.

It has no tooltip and in faint text, displays "0:0[0:188]" (without the quotation marks, of course).

Stepping into territory where angels fear to tread, I clicked on it but... apparently nothing happened. Or at least, I haven't smelled any smoke coming out of the back of my tower case just yet.

I know that curiosity kills cats but... does anyone know what this is for? In my more paranoid moments, I'm remembering that awful Sandra Bullock movie, "The Net", but that's a pop culture reference I'm sure no one wants to be reminded of.

It was some sort of a process tracker that was meant to disappear.

Interesting guesses in that other thread... I still liked the beer bottles left in the fridge suggestion myself.
