Snippets and new lines

Post by AudreyC »

Hi,

Does anyone know why some snippets automatically prefix and suffix themselves with a new line?

I have several snippets that do this and they appear no different than those that do not!

Sorry, Audrey, I'm not clear what you mean - could you describe the problem in a little more detail?
Until next time....

In my case, I have a snippet that contains "The principle functions of"

I use it to create the front page for each component I document. For example, when I document the audio system, I want the following:

[The principle function of] the [Audio System].

What I get instead is this:

[The principle function of ]
the [Audio System].

There is no way to get anything to "stick" on the line with the [The principle functions of] snippet.

I can't figure out why (the problem does not occur with the [Audio System] snippet).

Ok, I think I know what the problem is. Flare has two ways of inserting snippets: as blocks, or as inline text. What you are trying to do is insert it as inline text, of course. The gotcha here is that if you insert the snippet as the FIRST part of a paragraph, Flare defaults to making it a block.

What I would do as a workaround is add some dummy text first, then insert the [The principle function of] snippet, finish off the line, then remove the dummy text from the front. It's a pain, but it works.
Until next time....
