Does anyone know how I stop the scan that Flare 4 runs when I open a project?
When I started Flare 4 the first time on my main project it ran a scan that took 30 minutes. It's nice (read:overdue) that the analyzer features make an appearance but this should be something that happens on command, not automatically.
When I started it again today it took 5 minutes to run the scan. Not so crippling but still, why is it running scans when I didn't tell it to do so? I appreciate Flare anticipating my needs but if it adversely affects performance then it's not helping.
flare 4: disable scan on startup?
Re: flare 4: disable scan on startup?
I'm not sure about a way to turn it off entirely, but you can improve performance by going to Tools > Options to open the Options dialog. Select the Analyzer tab, and you will see a checkbox "Disable Collecting Phrases." You could try that.

That and Disable Intellisense...to improve the response time during the editing workflow...Edit > IntelliSense PropertiesAndrew wrote:I'm not sure about a way to turn it off entirely, but you can improve performance by going to Tools > Options to open the Options dialog. If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release

Part of changing the setting I mentioned should disable IntelliSens.

Re: flare 4: disable scan on startup?
I appreciate all the suggestions. I already knew about Disable Collecting Phrases. It's the first or second help topic when you search the Flare v4 help for 'disable scan'.
I'm not as interested in "improving performance" as I am in disabling the scan that starts when I open my project. I don't understand why these scans are happening without my instruction.
Can I close the project during a scan? Will that break anything?
How do I stop the scan after it starts?
I'll check w/ madcap support and see what they say.

emailed madcap support. paid $1000 for it. might as well use it.

You'd think they could send some of that revenue to those who tirelessly support their product for free. :)
