Conditional Tags by topic

I have an image (a menu) that I wish to use in more than one topic but I'd like to highlight certain aspects of the menu, relevant to the topic.

I've created a rectangle as my highlighting method, but I can't get it to display on each specific topic. It shows on them all.

In the simplest form, I don't want it showing on one topic, but I do want it showing on another.

This has nothing to do with conditional output - it's to do with conditional display. Can that be done?

Do I need to do something with layers or variables perhaps?

Snippet conditions let you control which content is displayed at the topic level. In the snippet, you set the conditions on the content that is topic-specific. For each topic that uses the snippet, you can include/exclude the conditioned content on the Topic Properties > Snippet Conditions window.
