Capture v6 - Scale value truncating error

Post by sdcinvan »

I am surprised that I didn't see any comments about this yet.

Even though Capture's Scale feature allows for fractional scaling adjustments, the scale value rounds off by dropping the 1/100th and greater off. So, because I need to do finer than 1/10th adjustments, I cannot later go back to scale adjustment and see my actual value. :(

This is certainly odd, but unfortunately Capture does lack precision in many aspects. Not being able to constrain lines/pointers to 90/45 degrees drives me nuts. At the same time, the amount of precision that you can put into sculpting a big green bendy arrow object is breathtaking (and useless, unless you are annotating cartoons). Capture is certainly due an overhaul to bring some relevance back to its tools. I am compiling a feature list to submit to MadCap and I will add this.

In the meantime, you might be able to get some granularity by using the pixel width or height settings instead...

Tom,

Post your feature request list here so we can also submit requests. MadCap often responds faster to items that are requested by multiple people.

Agree 100%. About both issues. Also, cropping is a royal pain if your image is bigger than your screen size.

Thanks Paul, will do!

Capture integration with Flare is brilliant. I'd love to see Capture get fit-for-purpose design and edit tools to support that.

I posted this as a bug report because truncating the value isn't a missing feature, in my opinion. BTW, my title is incorrect because it isn't rounding, it is just truncating the value with the greater precision hidden. In order to maintain consistency, I need to jot down the real values in a document.
