Border when capturing the active window

Postby BedfordWriter on Fri Dec 09, 2016 8:08 am

If I use Ctrl-Shift-A to capture the active window, I always get a border on three sides of the window, which is a view of whatever is behind the window. The Windows Alt-PrtScr combination doesn't do that. (Compare left and right images, attached.)

I suspect that this has something to do with how Windows 10 defines a window border, but it's annoying. Is there any way to grab just the active window and not that border using Capture?

This is an old post, but did you find the answer? I think this is a downside of active window capture, could well be a bug or maybe poor design. As a workaround, you can use Ctrl+Shift+W, and then indicate the window that you want to capture. Capture grabs just the window without the drop shadow border.
