Installing Mimic 7
The Mimic 7 installation insists on installing the Hotfix for Windows Media Encoder (KB929182), but the hotfix fails to install. Using Windows 7 64bit. Does anyone have a workaround for this (a hotfix for the hotfix) or is that something I can care less about?

Got a response from support. If you are using Win 7 64 bit then this is of no worry because the 64 bit version of W7 already contains the fixed files. Not so for the 32 bit version or Vista.

Re: Installing Mimic 7
Were you able to solve this?
I ran into an issue when I tried to select the HTML5 Property Option of MP4 Format, and MadCap directed me hear to install a free encoder: http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
I did that, but I have no idea where the ffmpeg file was installed, and so can't configure the option for the Path to Encoder.
Help!

Wow! No one has answered a question from Feb. 2013?schultza wrote:Were you able to solve this?

Your specific question is easy, when you unzip the build, ffmpeg is located in the path, "...\bin" but my problem is... where the heck is the path configured in Mimic v7.x? Hang in there... the journey begins.
The Mimic pages states the following, "Then in Mimic's HTML5 Options dialog, you can navigate to the extracted \bin\ffmpeg.exe file."
Well, where is the HTML5 Options dialog? No clue offered on this page!
Next, the user manual. Searched for ffmpeg... NOTHING! Searched for h.264 and I found this sole reference, "Download encoder for MP4/H.264...Set up MIME type on server if using fullmotion video (FMV) files" - useless!
Finally! In the Movie Generation Guide, some instructions are found on page 25.
But am I reading this correctly? It seems that you must configure the H.264 encoders manually for any new collection created. There is no 'one time' configuration... set and forget? That seems rather ridiculous.
And where is Mimic's online help? There should be a link from this page: http://www.madcapsoftware.com/products/ ... urces.aspx
