Windows Media Encoder Error when trying to record a video

Post by JBrown »

Windows Media Encoder Error when trying to record a video
Untitled.png
Windows 7
Mimic 7.0.2 Full License

As soon as the record button is hit I get this error: Windows Media Encoder is not working. B3.WindowsMediaEncoderKit to install WME and/or its Vista Hot Fix"

I have removed and reinstalled Mimic 7.0.2, I have installed all the codecs and the Windows Media Encoder from the MadCap links.

Any ideas?

After reinstalling the Windows 7 Codec from the link supplied in the note below and its working. Thanks MadCap support!

***From MadCap Support:

Can you please ensure that you have both the Codec and the Encoder installed for Windows? Please visit your control panel (Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features) to locate both of the following:

Windows 7 Codec Pack
Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

If either of these are missing, please use the following download links to update your machine:

Windows Media Encoder 9 Series
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=17792

Windows 7 Codec Pack
http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-Code ... 65840.html

Whiles the Encoder is not designed for Windows 7, it is used by Mimic and not windows 7. Installing the Encoder should fix the issue.

The Microsoft link for the encoder is no longer active. You can download it from CNET (link follows):
