Flare installer seen as malware

Post by pdenchfield »

My coworker had to install Flare 2017r3 on a new laptop (Windows 10) after a huge Windows update. SentinelOne said the Flare installer was malware. Has anyone experienced this? We filed a bug with MadCap as well as a helpdesk ticket with our IT department.

Note: Issue was seen with the download file from MadCap (6547), but my coworker was able to transfer a previously downloaded version (6494) and that did get installed.

Thanks!

It happened before that an overeager virus scanner flagged the MadCap install. It is not unique to MadCap or the antivirus you are using. All AV applications are a bit wonky, some more than others. You can submit the executable to the AV vendor for analysis and whitelisting. They are the ones who need to fix things, MadCap can merely do the same and provide some more technical insight if asked.
