XLIFF file shows wrong mark up usage

Postby andiausdemtal on Tue Jun 08, 2021 5:32 am

Hi altogether,

I am still trying to work out a workflow Flare -> Lingo -> Translator -> Lingo -> Flare. At the moment it works as far as this: I have received a translated bundle from the translator. Unfortunately something went wrong with the mark ups in the XLIFF file I have sent to the translator. As you can see in the code below the source and seg-source elements are filled with text ("Zielgruppe der Anleitung") – which is fine. The target element is empty though. As far as I am aware any xliff tag marker that exists in the seg-source mrk element should also exist in the mrk tag with the same id. I have no idea why and how this happens.

This ist what I have sent to the translator:
</header>
<body><trans-unit
id="1"
restype="x-xhtml-madcap:keyword-term"
phase-name="pretrans"
translate="no"><source>Zielgruppe der Anleitung</source><seg-source><mrk
mtype="seg"
mid="1">Zielgruppe der Anleitung</mrk></seg-source><target
state="needs-translation"><mrk
mtype="seg"
mid="1"
MadCap:segmentStatus="Untranslated"
MadCap:matchPercent="0" /></target></trans-unit><trans-unit

This is what I got back from the translator with the 'misplaced' translation ("Zielgruppe der Anleitung" = "Target group of this manual"):
</header>
<body><trans-unit
id="1"
restype="x-xhtml-madcap:keyword-term"
phase-name="pretrans"
translate="no"><source>Zielgruppe der Anleitung</source><seg-source><mrk
mtype="seg"
mid="1">Target group of this manual</mrk></seg-source><target
state="needs-translation"><mrk
mtype="seg"
mid="1"
MadCap:segmentStatus="Untranslated"
MadCap:matchPercent="0" /></target></trans-unit><trans-unit

Have I missed a checkbox somewhere? I do not think so. And since the target element is missing from the the start I do not think that the translator could do anything about it.

I am looking very much forward to reading your hints or thoughts on this subject.

Best regards, Andreas
