Lingo does not recognize &#160 inside <pre> tags

Post by Magdalene »

Does anybody know how to make Lingo recognize [ ] inside <pre> tags?
Our Flare project contains a lot of snippets to be translated in Lingo and Trados.
We use snippets as screen image files of console.
Inside the snippets, we set &#160 in order to maintain the form (shape) of the screen images.
However, when we create a Lingo project to translate the snippet files,
Lingo does not recognize the codes of &#160 that are set in the Flare project of original language, while Trados recognizes [&#160] inside <pre> tag with no problem!

I just want to check with you on the syntax, because that doesn't look right. Non-breaking space is:

Anyway, I ran a test with the following line in a topic:

Code: Select all

      Test
It appears Lingo does not recognize the pre tag properties. The tags display in the Translation Editor, and there is spacing between them and the word Test. But the syntax is not visible. When I look at the XLF file, the syntax is gone but the spacing is still there.

I don't think it's the syntax, but rather Lingo not recognizing the pre tag that may be a bug.

Hi Kwan_myers,

Thanx much for your great help and running a test.
As you pointed out, the code in question is &#160, non-breaking space.
(Sorry for the unclear info. I corrected the title.)

What we observe is missing of spaces that are enclosed with pre tags on flare project exported by Lingo V9.
(and the PDF output by the flare project. We use Flare V9.1 and Lingo V9)
As pre tags are displayed in the translation editor on Lingo V9, I thought the code &#160 caused this problem untill you indicated this.
I will report this case to MadCap right away to check this ASAP,
because our management is now considering complete switchover to Trados and other authoring tools due to this significant problem on Lingo and Flare.

Follow-up Info,

On Flare board, I found that a similar case has already been raised as a bug report of Flare V10. (id #96320)
We use Flare V9.1, so this problem may have been caused by Lingo V9.
