When importing multiple sets of files where each set of files as its own tag mapping scheme (necessitating separate imports), is it best practice to import each set into its own (temporary) Flare project?
I saw some files getting overwritten when I imported a second set of files into a project where the second file set contained some headings identical to existing content. So my workaround has been to import each file set into its own temporary Flare project, then copy relevant files into the master project (topics, images, page layouts, variables, etc.). I'm probably making it harder than it is. Please share your experience. Thanks!

If you have file conflicts from project imports, then I would restructure the projects before you import.
Decide what folder/file structure you need in the main project that you will import into; and then set up that structure in all the projects you are importing from.
Typically, you probably want to move files out of the root folder, and into some organised folder structure; so files from each import are in their own separate folders.

When you say "move files out of the root folder" do you mean in the master Flare project? That makes sense!
Next time I import I'll pay more attention to the options available to see if I can import new content (topics, images, page layouts, etc.) to import-specific subfolders.
Thanks, Dave.

No, the source projects you're importing from.pdenchfield wrote:When you say "move files out of the root folder" do you mean in the master Flare project? That makes sense!
Decide what folder structure you want in the 'master' project, then set up that structure in the projects you're importing from.
In project A, put all the topics in a 'Project A' folder; and in project B, put all the topics in a 'Project B' folder.
When you import both projects A and B into your master project, their files will be in folders 'Project A' and 'Project B' - which means they can't overwrite each other.

Okay. How about when importing from non-Flare programs, such as FrameMaker? Is there a way to direct the import so that topics, images, and other files go into separate folders? I don't remember such an option but maybe there is.... If so, then I can import each little bitty item into the master Flare project instead of importing each into its own Flare project, then copy-pasting.

It already does that for non-Flare imports; give it a try.pdenchfield wrote:Okay. How about when importing from non-Flare programs, such as FrameMaker?
