How do you get a flimpfl file

Post by stmisc »

I've got a Word template (.dotx) that I want to import into a current project and use that for our Word output. When I try to import the .dotx file through Project > New > Import File > Add MS Word File, it only allows me to import a flimpfl file. Where can I create a Word file with a .flimpfl extension. The online docs aren't too clear about that. Thanks.

Hi,

Flare creates a flimp file when you Import a .doc or .docx file. Flare only imports files with content. Handling of styles is too different in Flare and Word, it does not make sense to import a Word template, a Word file with extension .dot or .dotx for formatting reasons.
If your Word file has a lot of contents you want to work with in Flare, you best start Word and change the .dotx extension into .docx.
If you want to create a Word output file based upon your template from a project you could do this a lot easier with DocToHelp.
