Importing Flare projects into memoQ

Post by patbr2017 »

We have been experiencing issues with importing projects from Flare into memoQ translation memory.

We get various error messages such as: Access to the path 'file name.png or .css' is denied.

It would be very helpful to have some comments or advice on how to overcome this problem.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Just wanted to advise anybody who is considering importing folders for translation from MadCap Flare into MemoQ about what to look out for in case of errors in importing files.

It is vital to ensure that you are working on a local drive - like a c drive and not on the main drive where Flare files are located. That way you can delete all image files and cascading style sheet files which are very problematic to importing docs - especially when the images are linked to multiple files.

For example, you could get an image that will be used in multiple files to indicate that the topic was a Client Idea.
If you delete your Client Idea image file in your main storage area for Flare files, this image will probably be deleted throughout Flare. However. on a local C drive (or whatever drive is used for locally saving), you can safely delete all image files and any other files that are preventing imports into the memoQ translation software program.

The more files you import, the longer it takes to open them in memoQ but there is a good search which helps with finding files quickly.
