I am trying to import a large document (80 pages) into a Flare project and have it import as one long topic.
The method to my madness is to use the Kaizen Plugin to split by H1s and then H2s. This will be much faster. (There is a reference to this process in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31287)
I did this once before without the plugin and then just lived with the really long file. I cannot remember how I got the Word file to make one long topic though.
Every time I import the Word document, Flare keeps breaking it in weird places. I went to the Options settings in the import file and unchecked all the break file options.
Is there something I need to do to the Word file before importing? Remove the page breaks? Or section breaks?
Thanks!

Hello,
MadCap has a lot of Options for Import of Word files. And yes, every manual page break will start a new topic.

Did removing manual page breaks in your source file solve your problem?

Yes, it did. I also removed all section breaks. The file imported as one long document.doc_guy wrote:Did removing manual page breaks in your source file solve your problem?

You want to split your topic by H1 and H2, so why not split them on import? Or haven't you formatted the source Word document yet?

Re: Importing Into a Single File
I imported already. Honestly, I do not know how to set the import to do that. All the topic break options do not make it obvious how to do that.

In the Word import file, click the second tab (New Topic Styles) and move styles from the left list to the right list to use for topic breaks.Jess77 wrote:I imported already. Honestly, I do not know how to set the import to do that. All the topic break options do not make it obvious how to do that.
