Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
Please remind me--What can I expect when importing a Word document that has an index and lots of cross-references? Is there any way to turn the Word index tokens and cross-references into their equivalents in Flare?
Re: Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
That would be useful since creating indexes is a lot of work.

Re: Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
I just tried an import from Word 2007 and my index terms were recreated as Flare index entries.
I think the main thing with Word imports is to check them thoroughly befaore you start editing. You can fine tune your import properties and reimport as necessary, but once you start editing you are more or less committed.

Re: Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
This is good news!
Do you think that having created the Word document with Word 2007 was critical? The document I want to import was created with Word 2003.
Any idea regarding the cross-references? Did they also import as successfully as the index terms?

Re: Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
You should be right with 2003 - I've imported previously without any issus.
To be fair, I haven't had cross refernces in the Word document, but I think Word handles cross references similar to the way it handles indexing, so I can't see it being a problem.

Re: Importing Word Doc: Index and Cross-references
Our cross-references did not work after import. If anyone has a suggestion about why that might be, that would be helpful. We used two types in Word; cross-references to bookmarks and cross-references to figure captions. Neither seem to work in Flare.
I did manage to get the index to import properly, after a few tries.
Thanks,
Kristi
