Flare can't find Frame

Post by Mark Jacober »

Hi,

I'm moving to a new machine, installed Flare 3.1.0 (10/9/2007), installed Frame 7.1 and updated it to 8.0.p277, removed Frame 7.1, and Flare can't find Frame. I don't see anything on the Flare menus that tells it where Frame is supposed to be, so I'm guessing it a registry setting. Anyone know how to get these two to talk nice?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, but I'm all set. I thought there was a patch, and then I found it.

You can get it from the KB article here:

Edited to correct the link (I hate linking to framesets....)
Until next time....

You can always make a CSH call to it using the article ID.

That's easy for you "WebHelp" people to say.... us CHM folks use different calls so the syntax isn't exactly top of mind :(

Naw, Rick just told me how the article ID was their map ID. Or alias. Whatever. I always get them confused.

FYI, the CSH call to the link you provided is http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_CSH.htm#IMP1011F. (Note the hyphen from the article number was removed. And some articles you have to add an "F" at the end for Flare.)

We use the ArticleNumber followed by the First letter of the application for our CSH calls.

So for the technote on how to locate a open topic in the Content Explorer or TOC, Would look like this:

Code: Select all

A map ID is always an integer whereas an alias can be alphanumeric. You could make the alias to be the same as the map ID, but that defeats the purpose of the alias that is intended to be more descriptive than some anonymous integer.
