I have upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 and now try to import a Word 2003 file.
I have four own styles set to "new topics" in the importing wizard.
All TOC topics gets the "bookmark is missing" error. Tring to build a HTML file of this gives the result that all contents links in the navigation panel of CHM links to the topic above the link.
Have anybody seens this - and what can I do?
I did not see this error in 4.1

Flare 4.2 & Word import - TOC bookmarks missing
Re: Flare 4.2 & Word import - TOC bookmarks missing
Are you using an import file that you had created in v4.1? Don't delete the old one yet, but maybe create a new one in v4.2, set it to import the same Word file, and give it the same settings that you had before, then try the import. It's possible that MadCap made changes in the backend of the import functionality and it didn't properly modify your import file to work with the modifications.
Of course, if you're trying this with a brand new import file then the problem is something else, in which case you can ignore me.

Yes, it is a brand new Word file each time - just for creating the CHM file!
I tested by re-arranging the TOC (after import) and of course this works.
But I have 9 more files with 5-6 pages of TOCs - so it is quite annoying.

I meant the import file in Flare, not the Word file being imported. One import file in Flare can import one or more Word files. I was thinking that you had an existing import file and a change to the program caused a problem with that import file.

Re: Flare 4.2 & Word import - TOC bookmarks missing
Could be a system issue - I can repeat the problem on a test machine that is (still) running Windows 2000 and Word 2003, but can't repeat it on a machine running Windows XP and Office 2007. Shall we leave it up to the forum to decide if it is a Windows or a Word issueglad wrote:... All TOC topics gets the "bookmark is missing" error. I haven't tried all combinations, but it looks like there is a bug - possibly the import function was changed in the 4.2 upgrade - you can report it at:
https://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx
A possible workaround is to remove the TOC from the Word document prior to import, and Flare will create a TOC based on the topics alone. But the downside is that the entries will all be on the same level - might be quicker than re-creating the whole TOC.

Hi,
Thanks for the link to the bug list.
I have reported it now and also attached a zipped example.
Hopefully I get an acceptance on that (or even better, a solution)
