Can I Combine Table AutoFit to contents with max-width?

Hello,

I would like to use the table "AutoFit to contents" setting to let them shrink to the minimum size needed to fit content, but apply a max-width of 90% to limit how big they can get on printed pages. However, max-width does not seem to have any effect.

• I have applied a table style that removes outer borders, changes separators to light gray, and shades the header row a lighter gray.
• I modified the project stylesheet to apply 'max-width' to the table element.

Am I missing something? Is there some sort of latent CSS compatibility at play here? Any insight into this predicament is appreciated.
