Menubar in Windows XP Standard blue

Post by i-tietz »

Hi Folks,
how can I change the background color of the menubar in a HTML Help? Which style to change?
In the IE the menubar with the symbols has the color of the rest of the window. In the HTML Help it's white (or almost) ...

I'm thankful for a hint ...

As far as I know you can change it in the WIndows system options....but that changes it for all applications and is dependent on the user logged in. So, basically you can't.

So the menubar is no control of the help window I can manipulate via style sheet?

It's part of the HTML Help viewer application. It's the same as how in WebHelp your stylesheet has no control over the colour scheme of the user's web browser (i.e. the file menu, the browser buttons etc.)
Until next time....

Nope! It is part of the proprietary Windows CHM Viewer and it is also an issue that applies to any application that uses standard tool bar components. Some development environments have their own controls that allow for more control, but those, too, typically do not allow for changes during runtime. And since none of this is open source you will be stuck with the battleship gray forever.

Just be thankful it doesn't look the way it did on the Windows 9x operating system. Uck.
