I see many postings about the ins-and-out of using TFS as a document control with Flare. I am just exploring this idea and I want to inquire about Flare/TFS as a document management layer.

I may not be using the correct terms, but I am thinking doc control as a controlled repository that handles version controls. Whereas, I am looking for the next level and I need a doc management layer. I have the need to know where a shared document part is used and other items like locating orphans and duplications.

Is anyone here using Flare/TFS/SharePoint to achieve this model? If so, I am looking for any help that you can provide for this goal.

If I am reading this right, MC Analyzer might do something for this. I tried a demo of it though and it messed up a list and it took me all day to fix it. Although, the documents I inherited are VERY messy code wise due to multiple hands and probably importing from multiple sources (RH8 for one and probably Word and who knows what else).

Flare (and Analyzer) have a few features in this area, but it isn't a fully-featured content management system.

To analyse your projects, Flare has a limited Project Analysis feature, and also has reports which give you a lot more information about your project.

The separate Analyzer application is basically just a more enhanced version of the Project Analysis feature in Flare. It's probably worth downloading a trial to see if it does what you want. I have mixed opinions of Analyzer; it has some useful features, but when used in large projects (2500 topics) it was so slow that it was actually unusable.
