Issue when expanding a folder in the Contents Explorer (GIT)

I have just started using GIT. The repository is on a server connected using a VPN.
My help projects are of, what I would call, a medium size (hundreds of topics and several hundreds of images). When I try to expand, for examole, the images folder in the Contents Explorer nothing happens and I get the dreaded Windows' "Circle of death". The only way to exit Flare is to kill it using the Task Manager. I am using the latest Flare and Windows 10. Any clues anyone? The projects were fine before I started using GIT...
