Gitlab: The server returned an invalid or unrecognized resp

Hi, we host our project files on Gitlab. It's been working fine so far, but
now my partner created a new project, and i'm trying to import it, and I'm getting the below error: I'm getting it in the Import Project From Source Control dialog. I browse for the project file, enter my credentials, and boom!
Cannot find any info online about what it would it mean?
Did anyone else encounter this? any way to solve this?
