Madcap Flare / Structured FrameMaker

Technical writers and tools experts needed for a project starting July 2010, this is an opportunity to join an innovative technical writing project with our writing team while working from home. We are adding to our team that is creating single-source documentation for our client and have room to add experts to our team – in a few different areas of specialty – including MadCap Flare and Structured FrameMaker experts.

TECHNICAL WRITERS
- Strong skills in FrameMaker 9 would be best – but will consider someone expert in version 8 who can pick up new features in 9 quickly.
- Experience with topic-based authoring/writing in Single-Source environment ideal.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Mastery of English grammar and spelling.

Recent experience should include:
- Writing/editing for a variety of audiences from both written and oral sources and for multiple types of output (hardcopy, online help, etc.).
- Reporting cross-product inconsistencies.
- Educating and mentoring others in technical communication: writing, editing, indexing, designing and developing documentation.
- Providing guidance to other staff members in all phases of product development.
- Developing new techniques of soliciting and obtaining reviews of documents.
- Having a track record in the design and development processes.
- Noting trends in problems with documentation and proposes ways to improve it.
- Project estimating and planning abilities. You will be working closely with technical management on project planning.

Additionally
We need DITA and SGML experts to write and maintain content as well as assess legacy Unstructured FrameMaker files.

TOOLS EXPERTS
- Experience with MadCap at an advanced level.

Additionally
- If you are a Structured FrameMaker expert who can develop SGML/DITA authoring/publishing structured applications – we have work for you. This project requires hands-on experience creating DTDs, Schemas, Structured Templates, and Read Write/Rules.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be self-motivated to work from home and able to deal with multiple project fronts in an accelerated environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to interface with client to make recommendations and/or troubleshoot.
