Excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic setting. Candidate will assist team with technical writing, editing, proofreading, document design and layout. Position will run indefinite, possibly up to 6 months and may have potential to go permanent.
The Technical Writer will assist in:
Technical writing, editing, proofreading, document template creation, document design and layout, print production, translation project management, and conversion of legacy documents to MadCap Flare (XML). Other duties:
- Create, review, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, Instructions for Use, Product Information Bulletins, product and packaging labels, customer communications, etc.
- Create high-quality templates, documents, and labels consistent with corporate brand standards.
- Convert existing documentation into XML-based authoring system.
Learn and adhere to documentation control process.
- Develop documentation project plans and timelines.
- Ensure adherence to corporate document standard formatting in the form of style guides, templates, and graphical standards based on industry state of the art and corporate branding.
- Ensure compliance of documentation to FDA guidelines.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience or exposure to medical industry a plus.
Training or experience with MadCap Flare or comparable XML-based authoring system.
Conceptual knowledge of topic-based authoring and single sourcing.
Expertise using mainstream publishing and graphics tools:
- Adobe FrameMaker
- Adobe Creative Suite 4 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Adobe Acrobat
- BarTender a plus.
Experience using or understanding of document/source control systems.
Familiarity with FDA's "Write It Right" recommendations.
Strong design sense; ability to lay out highly useable, organized, attractive documentation.
Strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Sense of initiative; intellectual curiosity about technical products and systems.
Commitment to product knowledge.
Ability to multitask and flexibility to accommodate changing priorities.
