JOB TITLE: Technical Communicator

JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Communicator is responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including software and systems engineering, and system functionality. This position also writes, records, and publishes video tutorials for new and existing features.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Research, gather, analyze, translate, and compose information into clear, readable documents matching requirements, able to be viewed and understood by technical and non-technical customers.
Participate in all aspects of documentation development from product planning through product release.
Complete a variety of writing and editing assignments of increasing complexity in responding to demands of the product.
Interface with various team members to gather understanding of the products and information on proposed customer-specific solutions.
Responsible for all aspects of creating technical documentation.
Enhances the ability of customers to understand complex systems by developing technical documentation that describes concepts in an easy to understand format.
Develop documentation that can be used by individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Write engaging text and work closely with our team to ensure the highest quality experience for our customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience
5 years of experience as a Technical Communicator or Document Writer
MadCap Flare (essential)
Single-sourcing knowledge (essential)
Basic understanding of XML (essential)
SnagIt or similar image editing software (essential)
Basic instructional design knowledge (highly preferred)
Adobe Captivate or similar video recording software (highly preferred)
Audacity or similar audio recording software (a plus)
Google Analytics (a plus)
MadCap Analyzer (a plus)
Adobe FrameMaker (a plus)
