We have an immediate need for a Senior Technical Writer who will create, develop, plan, write, and edit operational, instructional, online help, and developer related materials for paper, multimedia, or web-based publications. You will be working closely with other Engineering teams, Product Management, and Professional Services during the software development cycle to gather input on a task, feature, and product basis. You will produce high quality documentation without the need for a professional editor.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver high quality, user friendly product documentation for customers (internal and external)
- Understand the audience for documentation deliverables
- Research and translate technical information (MRD, PRD, Design Specs., UI specs.) into product documentation for both non-technical and technical users
- Apply and refine common look-and-feel across documentation as needed
- Recommend and implement formats, templates, and writer guidelines
- Work with key staff to coordinate timely reviews of materials for publication
- Advocate for users by representing their needs in review meetings and logging enhancements and defects
- Work without managerial or editorial assistance to gather and test content and deliver on deadline
- Requires a minimum of 5 years related experience
- Requires BA/BS in Journalism, English, Technical Communications, Computer Science or related field
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Seasoned professional with full understanding of industry practices and standard software policies and procedures
- Experience creating user guides, online help systems, reference material, and other forms of user assistance content
- Strong working knowledge of documentation tools, such as Madcap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, and standard graphics applications
- Ability to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
- Conceptual familiarity with complex enterprise applications, relational databases, and application servers
- Knowledge of usability and human factors principles
- Knowledge of data management standards and technologies, such as RDBMS, JDBC, JNDI, and Big Data a plus
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Analytics industries and products a plus
