Quality Vision International, Inc. (QVI) is looking to hire a full-time technical writer. Below is the job description.

Description: The Technical Writer produces detailed technical documentation including operator, software, service, maintenance, and calibration manuals, integrated software documentation, and training materials for the range of QVI products. Products include optical comparators, video measuring systems, multi-sensor measuring systems, laser scanners, CMMs, software, and accessories. Output includes printed and electronic manuals and software Help systems in English and other languages. Documentation integrates CAD drawings, photos, animations and video along with narrative text to improve the user experience. The Technical Writer works with QVI Engineering and other company Subject Matter Experts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.

Responsibilities:

* Work with other QVI departments to gather information and obtain an in-depth understanding of the product specifications and documentation requirements. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of such information.
* Analyze existing documentation, focusing on content reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
* Produce high quality, easy to understand, technical documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for the intended audience. This includes writing, illustrating, proofreading, editing, preparing for printing, and generating electronic output.
* Establish and maintain an effective schedule for the production of new documentation, and the maintenance of existing documentation, to meet customer requirements.
* Assist in the design and implementation of integrated software documentation and user interface in the company’s software applications, as required.
* Use in-house facilities whenever cost of production and placement can be reduced. Work directly with outside vendors to ensure a consistent level of high quality at the lowest cost.
* Work with local translation vendors and/or QVI channel partners in the production of localized end user documentation.

Requirements:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new technology and surpass current standards.
* Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.
* Four-year degree in communication/journalism with an emphasis on engineering disciplines or an equivalent amount of formal training and related industrial experience.
* Two years of practical experience in technical writing of hardware and software documentation, and training materials.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
* Experience with Madcap Flare, Madcap Lingo, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe FrameMaker, Corel Ventura, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and/or Corel PhotoPaint a plus.
* Video production and editing skills and experience a plus.
